Community, Curiosity & Doing Good

Letter from Rebecca

Fourteen years in, and I still circle September on the calendar.

The riding is spectacular — I won't pretend otherwise — but that's not the part that gets me up in the morning when planning starts in the spring. It's the people who keep showing up. It's what we build together for one week in a wild corner of Idaho, where the stories get told around picnic tables and the grit ends up in your teeth.

If RPI hasn't been on your radar before, here's what I want you to know. You're not signing up for a race. You're showing up for a family — my family. Strangers find each other at the start line and finish three days later as friends who'll be checking in with each other for the rest of the year. I've watched riders pull each other through bad patches, then cross the line together to bang the Be Good gong. That kind of thing happens here.

This year I'm especially proud of our new Girls Mentorship program, joining the Be Good Fellows and every rider who uses cycling to give back to their corner of the world. RPI was never just about a finish line, and it's getting more like itself every year.

If you're looking for something real, come find us. I'll be out there riding, cheering, and soaking up every minute of it.

See you in Sun Valley.

Beyond The Ride

The real stuff happens when the wheels stop spinning.

Soak in a natural hot spring while the day's stories get traded around. Catch the outdoor film fest with a brat off the grill and something cold in your hand. Test your competitive spirit at the Potato Olympics — yes, that's a real thing, and yes, it's exactly as ridiculous as it sounds. Bang the Be Good Gong at the end of each race day. Wander Ketchum and forget you're not from there.

This is where the friendships start, and where the stories get long enough to be worth telling later. Come for the ride. Stay for the rest of it.

First-Timer Spotlight: Shiela

"I absolutely loved being at RPI and racing the stage race. The coolest thing about the stage race is how different each stage is, and by participating in it, I got to experience a variety of riding in Sun Valley. Day 1 felt technical, Day 2 felt fast, and Day 3 was a suffer fest. My favorite parts of RPI were being a Be Good Fellow and experiencing fellowship and community, followed by the awesome stage racers I rode with each day who became my friends over the weekend. Overall, an unforgettable weekend — 10/10!!"

— Shiela, First-Time RPI Rider

Shiela showed up not knowing anyone. She left with a crew. That's pretty much how this tends to go. Whether it's your first lap or your tenth, the people you ride with become the reason you come back.
