2021 Covid-19 Policy

As the RPI Sun Valley event week approaches, we’re getting a lot of questions about our COVID-19 protocols and how we’re handling changes brought on by the Delta variant.

We know this is a challenging time for everyone, on top of a difficult year and a half. There is nothing more important for us than keeping our entire community safe. Safety is job number one, and the first priority in our gravel SHARK ethics. We are excited to see you and are confident in our execution of an awesome and safe event. Your cooperation in reducing the spread and transmission of the virus is appreciated.

In consultation with our Blaine County medical director, Dr. Terry O’Connor of the St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center, and in reference to the CDC risk level for Blaine County, Idaho, we have created COVID-19 protocols that adhere to current best practices in the Blaine County area. Here’s what you can expect at the 2021 Rebecca’s Private Idaho event.

PRE EVENT

PACKET PICK-UP on Wednesday (stage race) and Saturday (everyone else): These are indoor gatherings, so masks will be required, and our staff will wear masks.

WELCOME EXPO in Forest Service Park (Saturday): This takes place in an outdoor area; masks are not required.

BUS TRANSPORT before QSR stage 1: Participants will be required to wear masks while on the bus.

BE GOOD™ FOUNDATION PARTY: This takes place in an outdoor area; masks are not required.

RACE DAY

START LINE: Participants must wear a mask or face covering while standing in the chute for any of the stages of the event. You’re welcome to remove them as soon as we all start rolling. There are 15-minute staggered starts for each ride distance on Sunday.

AID STATIONS: Food will be individually packaged, you will fill your own water bottles, and our crew will adhere to sanitation best practices. Sadly, this means no rosemary-roasted Idaho potatoes this year.

POST RACE

FINISH EXPO in Festival Meadows: This takes place in an outdoor area; no masks are required. Food vendors will follow best practices for sanitation.

AWARDS CEREMONY: Masks will be required while on the podium.
